ISTA-11 St. Catharines, Canada 2025

Tiny Microbes–Big Data (ISTA11 / CAP–Niagara) will take place June 23–27, 2025, at Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.
This first North American ISTA meeting, co-organized by Francine McCarthy (Brock University) and Tim Patterson (Carleton University), brings together members of ISTAR and CAP to discuss testate amoebae, pollen, and non-pollen palynomorphs across diverse environments.

The program will feature thematic sessions, a testate amoeba taxonomic workshop, and contributions from established scientists, early-career researchers, and students.

Excursions include:
– Evening visit to Niagara Falls (optional dinner at Skylon Tower)
– Geology & Wine field trip with conference dinner in Niagara-on-the-Lake
– Post-conference trip to Crawford Lake, type locality for the proposed Anthropocene Epoch, including a tour of a reconstructed 15th-century Iroquoian Village and discussions with Indigenous knowledge keepers

The Niagara Region offers natural beauty, cultural attractions, family-friendly activities, and world-class wineries—making it an ideal venue for a productive and enjoyable scientific meeting.
